The client in Tianjin required a jet değirmeni to produce extremely light and fluffy silica (white carbon black), a material known for its low bulk density and tendency to expand after grinding. The target was to achieve a fine, uniform particle size distribution with a median particle size (D50) between 2-3 microns and a maximum particle size (D100) under 10 microns.
Equipment & Process Configuration
The grinding test was conducted using Epic Powder’s MQW Horizontal Fluidized Bed Jet Mill, integrated with a cyclone collection system. This system is renowned for its precise particle size control and suitability for heat-sensitive, low-density materials.
Results & Performance Analysis

The jet mill successfully processed the challenging silica material, meeting the specified technical requirements.
This case demonstrates the effectiveness of the Epic Powder MQW Horizontal Jet Mill in precision grinding of difficult, low-density minerals like silica. The system delivered excellent particle size control, achieving a sharp, super-fine distribution that met strict specifications. The test also highlights the importance of configuring auxiliary systems (collection, packaging) to handle the final product’s expanded volume effectively
For optimal industrial-scale production, pairing the jet mill with an extended bag filter collection system is advised to maximize product yield.
The client was highly satisfied with the exceptional results achieved. Based on the successful test data and demonstrated performance, the client ordered one set of jet mill systems. This project not only validated the technical capability of equipment by Destansı Toz but also solidified a trusting partnership with the client.
